Irene Warehouse is run by a small collective of volunteers in a former two-storey lingerie factory in Brunswick, Melbourne.
The space exists as a diverse artist community, working space, and vibrant networking hub—supporting a wide range of groups and individual artists working on all sorts of expressions: sculpture, painting, textiles, performance art, animation, dancing, music, film-making, jewellery, photography, theatre, wood-working, screen printing, and much more
We offer a variety of working spaces in what seems like quite a diverse range of shapes and sizes: some are big, others smaller; some square, others L shaped or ‘octogony.’ Many with natural light; some with city views and beautiful sunsets; others darkened for photography or by soundproofing. Some enclosed, others not for ventilation while painting. Some with carpet for office space, others not for making messy sculptures. Some are upstairs, some downstairs…

Irene Warehouse also offers certain shared spaces for private usage, to help support all sorts of artistic endeavours. Our spaces aim to be colourful and interesting, and are available at very affordable rates. Here are four common areas that we usually provide:
If you’re interested in using the space to rehearse a play, do a film shoot, paint a large painting, do large-format sculpture, practice; dance, hop, skip or jump—or any of the other wondrous things possible in any of our spaces,* please contact us below to pitch your idea!
